Hello,
Thank you for posting your question on Microsoft community.
I appreciate you for providing details about the issue and your efforts towards resolving it.
This issue may occur either due to software conflicts or if unused files are present in Windows.
I would suggest you to run system maintenance troubleshooter and check if it helps. Please follow these steps:
a. Type troubleshooting in the search box on taskbar and click on it in search results.
b. Click 'View all' and then click 'System Maintenance'. c. Click 'Next' and follow on-screen instructions.
If it does not help, then perform clean boot and check.
Refer this article:
How to perform a clean boot in Windows https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929135 (Also holds good for Windows 10)
Clean boot is performed to start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This helps eliminate software conflicts that occur when you install a program or an update or when you run a program.
Note: After you have finished troubleshooting, follow these steps from section “How to reset the computer to start as usual after clean boot troubleshooting” to reset the computer to start as usual.
I hope this information helps.
Please do let us know if you need any further assistance.
Thank you

Adaptec Series 6E Unified Serial SATA/SAS RAID controllers deliver the robustness of hardware RAID and the Adaptec RAID Code, enterprise class management features, and full OS support -- including open source drivers for Linux and FreeBSD -- into the entry level RAID space. Delivering the same 6Gb/s performance of the Series 6 controllers, the Series 6E are optimized for the platform where a Series 6 controller would not fit in from a price, form factor or host connectivity standpoint.
Series 6E controllers support SATA and SAS devices, and have been qualified with the same systems, motherboards, backplanes and drives as Series 6 controller. They include the same drivers, BIOS and storage management tools as Series 6 controllers and do not require additional training or qualification. Series 6E controllers are thoroughly tested with entry-level storage devices for desktop use and entry-level server platform, workstation and motherboards most typically used for basic server, performance workstation and industrial PCs.

Hardware good! Software NOT good!10/16/2016 11:53:34 AM
Pros: The card has a lot of features. In my ASUS Crosshair V mobo, it just works.
The tech support is awesome, IMHO ![]()
Cons: No way for a battery backup like on other Adaptec cards(read: more expensive) Be prepared for LONGER boot times, since the card must boot its' kernel. ONLY BUY THE KIT version!!! It comes with the cables needed. The software leaves A LOT to be desired! Be careful, some motherboards will NOT accept this card (Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD5 R5 (rev. 1.0))
Other Thoughts: It's taken over a year to write this. Oh well! When I first got the card, I had some problems, but the young lady(I forgot her name, sorry) at tech support was courteous and professional and we got it on-line. The software is ridiculous. You have to make a login for booting up. Why? This is a PC (emphasis on the P PERSONAL) I am the administrator. Even now, after numerous re installs, I still can't into the manager. Well it still works. All in all, a good purchase.
Ownership: 1 week to 1 month
Pros: This is a great card for the price; just make sure that you disable the write cache so you don't lose data with power failure.
This worked great with supermicro board but If you are building this for ESXi be aware that this Adaptec card needs the drivers so you either have to build a custom install media which I didn't like or install it on another media a flash and then install the vib driver by SCPing the vib to ESXi and install it in command line. after that ESXi will recognize the blank storage and will create your datastore on RAID drive. This way only VMs are secured from HDD failure and not ESXi itself but rebuilding and adding the VMs to another new flash takes only 10-20 mins which is shorter than looking for your custom made image of ESXi :) Here is the working link for the working driver: https://my.vmware.com/web/vmware/details?downloadGroup=DT-ESXI60-PMC-AACRAID-62141024&productId=529 Here is the guide for installing VIB file in ESXi shell which is the same as ESXi 5.5 (Worked for me): http://www.adaptec.com/en-us/support/infocenter/release-2015-1/index.jsp?topic=/adaptec_cli.xml/Topics/Installing_on_VMware_ESXi6.0_ESXi5.5.html
Cons: non maybe PCI-e X1?
Other Thoughts: Your system defiantly needs a UPS with this card as card has no battery. So if write cache is enabled without a UPS power failure can make you lose data.
Ownership: 1 day to 1 week
Pros: Good hardware RAID card. I found it easy to setup.
Cons: Takes about 25 seconds for it to load at boot up but I would expect this for an entry level hardware RAID card.
Other Thoughts: Does not include the following items as stated in the specifications:
Quick Installation Guide (English/French/German/Italian/Spanish/Japanese) Software and documentation DVDs You have to download these items from the Adaptec website.
Ownership: more than 1 year
Pros: I've had this card for about a year, maybe more. So far, it has worked without fail. I've had some custom-built computers break down on me, but it has not been the case with this card (yet). I am currently using this on a RAID1 configuration with Ubuntu 14.10, which natively supports the card. It has been a year or more, so my memory is a bit foggy, but I don't recall installing any custom kernel modules for Ubuntu 14.04 and 14.10 support.
Cons: I do remember having to finagle a bit to install the maxview storage manager software. That didn't work out of the box unfortunately. I was able to get it going after a while. I don't have the process documented that i used though, which was something that I probably should have done as I going through it, but I suppose hindsight is 20/20.
Other Thoughts: Initially, I wasn't sure about the Ubuntu support, but glad to see that it worked out fine. I would also recommend a UPS backup just in case of power failure.
Ownership: 1 week to 1 month
Pros: Hardware RAID for good price. Have 4 drives running a 10 RAID with no problems yet.
Cons: The only drawback of this device is the way the SATA connectors are made. Two of the drive bays in my case are oriented so that the SATA and power connectors are very close to the case wall and the connectors are somewhat folded there. I am concerned they may not last. That isn't the fault of the controller but I mention it so you are aware should you be in a similar situation.

![]() Dell H330 Driver
Pros: This product was used to replace Software/BIOS RAID on our development hypervisors that wouldn't work with VMWare ESXi. This product worked flawlessly. For the most part it was plug and go. The management screen is clean, minimal, and easy to setup arrays and deal with disk management.
Raid Controller Driver Windows 7
Cons: ESXi device driver support documentation could be better.
Long Firmware POST, but honestly a nonissue.
Other Thoughts: I was so impressed with the card and the performance, I want to get one of these for my personal gaming rig.
Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
Response to Richard on 12-04-142/16/2014 7:43:44 AM
Pros: Lowers CPU load for running a RAID 5 setup.
Cons: Long system boot-up showing Highpoint screen. Customer Support a bit difficult to navigate.
Other Thoughts: Overall a very good card especially for the money.
